Everything starts with color and the way it shapes our moods and perceptions. A certain blue brings me peace. A flash of yellow reminds me of a taxicab in New York, or a summer afternoon that lives in memory but no longer on a calendar.
I create acrylic paintings to spark immediate joy and recognition—like a great poster—and to serve as a launchpad for personal narratives. In addition to being an artist, I have spent decades immersed in brand storytelling at NYC ad agencies—an experience that taught me how small changes in framing or hue can dramatically shift a viewer’s response. I bring that same care to each canvas.
I’m especially drawn to subjects like global destinations and cultural symbols, all influenced by my Japanese upbringing and international life. I hope my work catches your eye, grows with you, and reminds you that beauty can be both powerful and playful, as well as visual and intellectual.
